  1. Lovely — and so great to see poppies flowering again in the wild. They‘re an indelible memory of many childhood walks, but they seemed to have gotten rarer and rarer over the years since, only to make a reappearance in the past decade or so. What lovely bright patches of red in a meadow they make!

    1. There’ve been a plethora of wildflowers near us this year, not just these poppies but wild blue geraniums in a profusion I’ve never noted before, foxgloves, and even a few undisturbed wild orchids. I won’t start a list but our walks this year have revealed more than I can recall for a few years now.

      1. That‘s beautiful!

A few years ago, one of the lawns in a park near my home was turned into a meadow (alas, just for one summer), with poppies, cornflowers, etc … it was so pretty; I would have wished they‘d do it again the next year, but unfortunately they did‘t — no idea why. Ah well. We must enjoy beauty when and where we find it! 🙂
